Sister Cities of Greenfield is now accepting applications for students and chaperones who are interested in traveling to our sister city of Kakuda, Japan in 2027.<\/p>\n
While in Kakuda, the wing members will live with host families for approximately ten days.<\/p>\n
During their time in Japan, travelers learn and experience, firsthand, the culture of another country. Travelers will tour Japanese schools and businesses, as well as, meet with city government officials. Travelers will also speak to a number of groups during their stay. Many times, they will answer questions from their Japanese counterparts about American lifestyles. Travelers will also enjoy wonderful, fantastic sightseeing trips and festivities. At the end of the trip, travelers visit one of the world\u2019s largest cities: Tokyo.<\/p>\n
The 2027 travel dates are tentatively scheduled for June 14-27, 2027. Applications for travelers and chaperones will be accepted through 4 p.m. EST on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2026.<\/p>\n
The travel experience is available only to Greenfield-Central students who will return to G-CHS or G-CJHS for the full school year following the trip. Eligible adult chaperones must be employed by either the Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation, Astemo, or the City of Greenfield, or must be a member of the Sister Cities of Greenfield board or be a former host family adult aged 22 or over.
\nStudents who move or otherwise fail to return may be held responsible for the sponsored portion of their travel expenses (Up to $3,000).<\/p>\n
